Woman: I’m not the ‘Florence Goh’ of US lobby group

PUTRAJAYA: A Johor businesswoman said she has been wrongfully accused of heading a company hired to lobby the United States government.

Florence Goh Siew Boey said she is not the “Florence Goh” who was identified by Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli as the head of Godfrey Group Limited, a company which the MP claims is an intermediary between the US and the Prime Minister’s Office.

“I am Florence Goh Siew Boey, the head of my own IT business, CRT Insights Technology Sdn Bhd. I am not the same Florence Goh that heads Godfrey Group Limited.

“My company’s address is No 42 Jalan Molek 2/1 whereas Godfrey Group Limited is at No 41 Jalan Molek 2/3. Although the addresses are similar, they are not the same place.

“I have nothing to do with that other company,” Goh told a press conference here on Wednesday accompanied by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

She said the claim by Rafizi had tainted her image and that of her company, and is demanding that the MP “clear her name”.

“I want YB Rafizi to clarify that I am not the same Florence Goh who has been named here. I also want him to apologise,” said Goh, adding that she may consider suing Rafizi if he does not act.

Goh also lodged a police report against Rafizi on May 29.

Hours after Goh’s press conference Rafizi issued an apology “over a blunder” in naming the “wrong Florence Goh.”

“I confirm that Goh Siew Boy of CRT Insights Technologies Sdn Bhd is not the Florence Goh who is the director of Godfrey Group Limited, which was involved in the lobby contract,” Rafizi said in a press statement.

Rafizi said the confusion arose due to the two companies having addresses in Taman Molek, Johor Baru.

“I take full responsibility over this mistake and apologise to Goh Siew Boy and CRT Insights Technologies Sdn Bhd for publishing their name,” he said.

On Saturday, Rafizi had claimed that Goh was the director of Godfrey, based on public documents lodged with the US Department of Justice.

Dr Wee said Rafizi should “investigate first” before making allegations that could be wrong.

“Yes, he has every right as an MP to expose wrongdoings, but it has to be something that is true.

“He should not just make wild claims and simply victimise people. This is a serious allegation that affects people’s reputations,” said Dr Wee.
